Latest WhatsApp reveals Facebook linking option

Ever since Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in 2014, not much has changed to the popular messaging platform beside the addition of voice calls between users. It and Facebook have stayed separate entities up until now.

New leaks reveal that WhatsApp is also planning to allow cross communication between Facebook and WhatApp accounts.

When messing with root commands, version 4.12.413 of WhatsApp shows the option of linking a WhatsApp account with a Facebook account to “improve Facebook experiences”.

We aren’t quite sure what the possible benefit of this is. Perhaps there will be shortcuts to post on a WhatsApp contact’s timeline, though this is entirely my own speculation.

Coincidentally, in the same week, WhatsApp dropped its subscription fees in pursuit of gaining even more users.

Maybe Facebook can use WhatsApp features that are exclusive to Facebook users as incentive for them to create a Facebook profile as this is where the company makes revenue.

Only time will tell, but WhatsApp is definitely up to something big.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Pricing Details Share Attractive Details

As we finally get to set in 2016, all eyes are on Samsung’s upcoming launches of the Galaxy S7 flagship lineup of smartphones expected from the Korean manufacturer at the cohorts of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Given the nature of the leak and the rumor mill we’ve seen a lot surface about the device over the past couple of months, so heading into February we have quite a decent idea of what to expect from Samsung’s flagship smartphone, all set to dictate the pace for Android flagships in 2016.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 To Be Cheaper Than Predecessors

When it comes to the Galaxy S7 we know quite a lot of things about the device by now. Its expected to be launched with Samsung’s Exynos 8890 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 on board, both of which will take things in mobile processing to the next level. Aside from this, Samsung’s also expected to upgrade the rear camera sensor, battery and overall design aesthetics which are expected to make this year’s Samsung Galaxy flagship a vastly different device from last year’s offerings.

Samsung did after all manage to significantly shake up things on the Galaxy smartphone lineup with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge launched last year. Not only did both the devices come with a completely new design and build materials, but we also saw the company’s in-house Exynos 7420 receive extra attention with the launch of the devices. Throttling didn’t do any wonders for the Snapdragon 810 and Samsung chose to rely only on its own silicon last year.

Today’s bit however relates to the pricing details on the Galaxy S7 and if you’re looking to grab yourself one this year then you’re in for some good bit of news. Sources in Samsung’s home country, South Korea have started to speak up about the pricing details of the upcoming flagship smartphones and according to them, Samsung’s going to go a bit easy on your pockets this time around.

According to sources, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be 10% cheaper than its predecessor, which means that we’re looking at a price reduction of around $40 this time around. Samsung ran into a bit of bad luck last year with the Galaxy S6 and its pricing as the Korean manufacturer saw market prices of its premium flagship smartphone decline all around. Looks like the company is eager to learn from the mistakes of the past. We hope it does.

Best Custom ROMs For Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

These are the best custom ROMs for the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone. Since the M4 variant of the Aqua is still new at the time of writing this post, you haven’t yet got the luxury of installing any of the big name ROMs like CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, Resurrection Remix, crDroid and so on, but you do have some ROMs to test out.

Required Files :

  • You will need to flash Custom Recovery On The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua before you can think about installing any of the custom ROMs or custom kernels. You need to upload the custom ROm zip file from the custom recovery because the stock recovery doesn’t have this feature.
  • You need to root Sony Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone sometimes in order to flash a custom ROM on the handset. Note that it isn’t always that way and these days it’s more likely you do not need to root the device before installing your ROM. Check out the ROM requirements from its page you download it below for any details regarding the root requirement. You should be safe if the ROM page does not mention it under the requirements.

Few Listed Roms :

Debloated ROM

AOSGP ROM

The AOSGP ROM is based on stock Android. As you might be able to tell, this ROM is based on the AOSP builds. Furthermore, it remains incredibly fast and light on your device, giving it better performance than the original stock ROM that comes with your Xperia M4 Aqua when you open it out of the box.

AOSP Android 5.1.1

The developer claims it is as pure as what you would get from a Google Nexus device that’s pretty pure. You must have an unlocked bootloader to install this custom ROM.

CyanogenMod 12.1 (Unofficial)

As the name suggests, this is the unofficial CyanogenMod custom ROM — meaning the real CyanogenMod team did not partake in creating this custom ROM. It was built by the community of people instead and is based on CyanogenMod’s work. We have read in a recent poll that CyanogenMod is the heavy favorite custom ROM the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua would like to see made, so there’s a good chance the team knock one up soon. Until then, this is the closest thing to CyanogenMod that you will get on your handset.

Features :

RIL, SD card, Audio, first boot, bluetooth, touchpad.

How to downgrade from iOS 9.3 back to iOS 9.2

The iOS 9.3 public beta is a way to try out the next iteration of iPhone and iPad software. But it may not be for you, at least not right now. If you downloaded the iOS 9.3 public beta but now you want to go back to the current version, iOS 9.2, that fine. You can always try iOS 9.3 again later, or wait for the final release this spring.

NOTE : All you need is iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC, and to follow the steps below!

How to put your iPhone and iPad into recovery mode :

There's no button tap to revert your device back to iOS 9.3. So, to get started, you'll need to put your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into recovery mode. That lets iTunes take over.

STEPS :

  • Turn off your iPhone or iPad. (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until Slide to power off appears, the slide.)
  • Plug your USB to Lightning cable (or USB to 30-pin Dock cable for older devices) into your computer.
  • Hold down—and keep holding down—the Home button on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Plug your USB to Lightning cable (or USB to 30-pin Dock cable for older devices) into your iPhone or iPad.
  • Continue holding down the Home button until the connect to iTunes screen comes up.

How to downgrade to iOS 9.2 on your iPhone or iPad :

If iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC doesn't launch automatically, launch it manually. iTunes will detect your device in recovery mode and ask you what you want to do.

Steps :

  • Click Restore on the iTunes popup.
  • Click Restore and Update to confirm.
  • Click Next on the iOS 9.2 Software Updater.
  • Click Agree to accept the Terms and Conditions and start downloading iOS 9.2.

If your device reboots to iOS 9.3 before the download is complete, simply repeat the steps above and put it back into Recovery Mode. Once the download is complete, iTunes will restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iOS 9.2.

How to restore your archived iOS 9.3 backup to your iPhone or iPad :

Once your device is restore, it'll have a clean copy of iOS 9.2. To get your data back, you'll need to restore from a previous backup. If you've been running iOS 9.3 for more than a day, your standard iCloud or iTunes backup will likely be iOS 9.3-based and may not restore properly to an iOS 9.2 device (we're testing this now). That's where the archived backup you made prior to installing the iOS 9.3 public beta comes in...

 STEPS :

  • Select Restore from this backup in iTunes.
  • Choose the archived backup you made before installing the iOS 9.3 public beta.

Once the restore is completed, your iPhone or iPad should be back to where it was before you installed the iOS 9.3 public beta. If you've made any major changes since then, and they don't sync back some other way, you may have to repeat them to get back to exactly where you were before downgrading.

Google+ Update v7.0.0 for Android starts rolling out

Google has just started rolling out v7.0.0 of the Google+ app for Android devices. The new update brings about quite a lot of fixes as well as updated features.

A total of 69 bugs have been fixed and 14 accessibility issues have been fixed. The search bar now shows you autocomplete suggestions as you type into it. The home stream remembers the position where you left off and makes sure to bring you back on track after you’ve checked notifications etc.

The bottom bar can automatically be hidden when scrolling through the home screen. However, it doesn’t work on the notifications screen yet. People without collections or communities will get a prompt to add ones to their profile as well.

Overall, the experience has received an overhaul and makes the experience much smoother, faster and more intuitive than before as well. While the update is already rolling across devices, it might still take a while before it shows up on your device.

Windows 10 Redstone Preview 11099 Starts Rolling Out

The latest Windows 10 11099 build is reportedly very similar to 11082, rolled out earlier last month. No new features or changes have been experienced so far as the focus remains on performance enhancement and bug squashing.

The latest build has addressed an issue with the progress dialog that appears when deleting or copying files using the File Explorer. Microsoft had promised a faster release cycle starting in January and is seemingly on track after the holidays.

'As with the previous build, this build does not include big noticeable changes or new features yet. Our focus through the holidays was on structural improvements to OneCore, which is the shared core of Windows across devices. The code refactoring and other engineering work we’ve been doing to optimize OneCore is nearing the point where we will be ready for teams to begin checking in new features and improvements. It will still be a few builds before any really noticeable changes show up, depending on when teams begin lighting up new features in their areas. We’re excited for Insiders to use this build to validate the work we’ve been doing to OneCore, so give this build a try and let us know of any issues you run into via the Windows Feedback app.'

Along with a lack of any major changes, the faster build release cycle also means that more bugs get through undetected during the internal testing period. These builds are expected to contain more bugs than the Fast Ring members have previously experienced. As recommended in our earlier posts on the subject, do not install the latest builds if you aren’t sure about the errors, and also never on your primary devices. Starting from today, Windows team won’t share the known issues in the announcement blogpost as they will be posted inside the Insider Hub.

Windows 10 Redstone 11099 issues:

  • Log on for devices using Citrix XenDesktop may be broken. It is recommended that Insiders that use XenDesktop skip this flight by moving to the Slow ring.
  • Applications that depend on Adobe Flash may crash upon launch. This will affect some version of Skype, QQ, WeChat, etc. This does not affect Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer.
  • With this build, defaults for some applications will be reset. Music & Video will default to Windows Media Player. This can be reconfigured opening Cortana or Search and searching for “Choose default apps by file type” to open the correct settings page.

If you are a Fast Ring member, you can install the latest Windows 10 Redstone preview on your PC.

Let us know about your experience with WINDOWS  10 Redstone in Comment sectsection.

According To Renders LG G5 to Retain Removable Battery Feature

LG G5 renders show an unexpected design to make the battery removable:

According to CNet Korea, the upcoming LG G5 will feature a removable battery. However, it will not remove through the back cover as LG is reported to feature a unibody all-metal design. The company is apparently designing the device with a bottom unit, helping the owner remove the battery pack. Sourcing the information from someone who has seen the device, the latest LG G5 renders show a unibody all-metal design with a flatter, thinner look. With rounded soft corners, the renders show the volume keys moved to the left frame of the device.

With a unibody design and an aim to keep the battery removable, LG has to come up with something. Something like a bottom bezel that could be pulled out to remove the battery pack while keeping the thinner design intact? The report details that engineers at LG spent quite a time figuring out how to create an all-metal unibody smartphone with a replaceable battery pack. The drawer-like design, according to the source, has been finalized with a focus to minimize water and dust damage. To open the battery pack, users will have to press two buttons on both the sides of the devices.

Quite an unusual design but looking at the demand of millions of Android users feeling upset with removable battery designs going out of trend, LG might just save the day for users and for itself too. While we can’t be sure about this report of LG introducing a drawer-like mechanism to keep the signature removable battery feature, it would be interesting to see how consumers respond to this design for a flagship smartphone.

Earlier rumors had suggested that LG G5 will feature a dual camera setup. Rumored to sport a 5.3-inch 1440 x 2560 Quad HD display, LG G5 will also feature a secondary ticker display. First the two camera sensors with laser autofocus, then the dual display setup and now quite a peculiar feature of a modular design to keep the battery easily removable. This year’s flagship smartphone from LG is certainly attracting a lot of rumor-light. Let’s see which of these bits actually come to fruition when the smartphone is released in a couple of months.

Samsung launches Galaxy J1 2016 edition in Dubai

Samsung is definitely no stranger to showmanship, as evident by its grand unveiling events. However, those are usually reserved for its top of the line models, like the annual Galaxy S and Note editions. The rest of the OEM's lineup typically gets a formal announcement as well, but it seems the Korean giant has decided to skip the formalities with the new 2016 edition Galaxy J1.

The new Galaxy J1 retains the budget-friendly nature of its predecessor. It is equipped with a 4.5-inch display, with a resolution of only 480 x 800 pixels, but still using Super AMOLED technology.
Running the show is a quad-core chipset, clocked at 1.3 GHz, probably the Samsung Exynos 3475 SoC. Memory is set at 1GB and there are 8GB of onboard storage.
