Although not officially, the smartphone is already on sale in the United States, where third party retailers including Amazon and Expansys are currently selling it for around $780 for the standard model.

The handset is also available for purchase in Europe through Sony as well as third party retailers. As for the price, it carries a tag of £629 in the UK, €829 in Italy, €899 in Greece, and €799 in most other countries. The device is also on sale in Taiwan.

Samsung announced that they have signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Japanese brand. The agreement will extend their already decade long successful collaboration that helped them develop 3G and 4G technologies.

Both the companies will use their expertise on mobile networks of speed up the development of 5G. They will do so by focusing on developments that will have the most impact first. DongSoo Park, Executive VP and Head of Research of Networks Business at Samsung said,

“Over the past 10 years, Samsung Electronics and KDDI have introduced the most advanced CDMA and LTE technologies to the Japanese market, We have worked together to drive innovation in 3G and 4G, and this track record of achievement makes us confident and excited about what we can provide in 5G era to end-users.

Sony Xperia series C5 Ultra is out in US

The selfie-centric Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is now available to purchase in the US. As is the case with most Sony smartphones stateside, you can not get it from a carrier. Instead, you'll have to go the unlocked route, paying full price for the device.

Thankfully though that price isn't all too big. The Xperia C5 Ultra is priced at $319.99 at Expansys, and $329.99 at Amazon. Both retailers only have the white version in stock at the moment, but they are selling different models it turns out. Expansys has the E5563 dual-SIM iteration of the phone, while Amazon is offering the E5506 single-SIM one.

The Xperia C5 Ultra stands out through its 13 MP selfie camera that even has its own LED flash. Otherwise, it's a mid-range phablet. It has a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 2,930 mAh battery. It's powered by the MediaTek MT6752 SoC which has a 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU. The handset runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Future SmartPhones SCREEN will Acquire Barely any Power

The touchscreen on a smartphone is probably the biggest consumer of battery life compared to other components and devices. This is why despite manufacturers trying their best to increase capacities, the battery life still remains poor especially since the display size and resolution too keep increasing.

Optimization does play a key role in battery life and closing unwanted apps after using does too. But the display still remains the major consumer of battery life and that is why many people look at screen on time as a benchmark to see if a phone offers the battery life they are looking for.

Since most tasks are related to the display itself, it would be best to reduce the power consumption of the display itself. Bodle Technologies is apparently working on a new display that uses different materials that will use virtually no power at all. It will still be sharp, vivid and have good sunlight legibility but consumes hardly any power.

Although the company hasn’t specified how exactly it works as they’re trying to keep it a secret at least for now, they are apparently in talks with manufacturers to put it into production. However, it might still take a while before we see it on actual smartphones but just like you, we can’t wait for it to come any sooner since battery life is still a major problem on most smartphones.

Marshmallow Based Cyanogen 13 update is now available for download

Alternative Android OS developer Cyanogen has announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based CM13 builds are now available for download. However, as of now, only select phones have been enabled to receive the nightlies.

        .

The device list currently includes OnePlus One (bacon), Nexus 7 (deb & flo), LG G4 (h815), Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (mondrianwifi), LG GPad 7.0 (v400 & v410), LG G3 Verizon (vs985), and Moto X 2014 (victara). The company says that more devices will be added to the list soon.

Cyanogen also wants you to be aware of a few details on how the new builds will impact your experience before you go ahead and flash them. The company recommends that those currently on CM 12.1 YOG4P or CM 12.1 YOG7D releases should not jump to nightlies unless they are "willing to accept a dip in quality." Quality approved snapshot for CM13 is expected to arrive sometime in January 2016.

If you are on a 12.1 nightly, and want to flash the new build without using the "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" option, you'll also have to update your third party addons in the same pass. "This means, if you use Xposed, OpenGapps, etc. flash a Marshmallow compatible version of them immediately after your CM13 flash," the company said in a blog post.

Finally, keep in mind that the upgrade is not compatible with any third party distributions. So in case you're running one, you should do a full wipe before making a switch.

Renders Shows the New Leaked, Huawei MATE 8

Although Huawei has unveiled a new Mate device not long ago, the Mate S is interestingly not the Chinese company's flagship for the end of the year. That honor is going to the upcoming Mate 8, the true successor for last year's Ascend Mate7.

Previous mumblings have revealed that the Mate 8 will be made official on November 26, which is just two days from now. So, perhaps understandably, a full set of leaked renders of the device has showed up in China today. You can see the images below

Given Huawei's love of metal, it's really no surprise to see that the Mate 8 employs that material as well. It looks like there will be three color versions of the handset, grey, gold, and copper.

The renders confirm the positioning of the fingerprint sensor underneath the camera, as well as that metal ring around the snapper, and the two speaker grilles surrounding the USB port on the bottom of the phone.

The screen seems to employ some type of 2.5D glass on top of it, and it's almost bezelless. That this would be true for its sides isn't that much of a surprise, but the Mate 8 will have very small top and bottom bezels as well, which means it could rank ahead of its competitors when it comes to the display-to-body ratio.

The smartphone has been rumored to feature Huawei's new Kirin 950 chipset, which has a CPU that employs four high-performance Cortex-A72 cores and four low-power Cortex-A53 ones. The Mate 8 could also have a 6-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 16 or 20 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, an 8 MP selfie shooter, 3 or 4GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of storage (depending on version). The battery capacity might be 4,100 mAh, and the phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's own Emotion UI on top

MI Pad 2 will be launching with all Metal Body with INTEL CHIPSET inside

Xiaomi also announced the new Mi Pad 2 alongside the Redmi Note 3. The updated model focuses more on the design and is thinner and lighter than before.

The Mi Pad 2 now has an all-aluminum body that is only 6.95mm compared to the 8.5mm of the previous model and weighs 322g compared to 360g of the previous model. For comparison, the iPad mini 4, from which the Mi Pad 2 clearly gets its design inspiration, is 6.1mm thick and weighs 299g.
The Mi Pad 2 also runs on a new 14nm Intel Atom X5-Z8500 64-bit processor with 2GB RAM, which replaces the NVIDIA Tegra K1 on the previous model. The tablet also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and has the new USB Type-C connector.

The rest of the specifications include the same 7.9-inch 2048x1536 resolution display, 8 megapixel camera on the back and 5 megapixels on the front, and a smaller 6190mAh battery, compared to the 6700mAh on the previous model.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be available in dark gray and champagne gold for RMB 999 ($156) for the 16GB model and RMB 1299 ($203) for the 64GB model

Xiaomi also released another teaser image showing off the smartphone in three colors – Gold, Silver and Grey. The Redmi Note 3 has unibody metal build. As we already know, the smartphone has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is now Available to LAVA Pixel V1

The Lava Pixel V1 which belongs to the ANDROID ONE group of devices has just started receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The upgrade to Marshmallow is available as an OTA update which is around 620.9MB in size. The build number is LAVA_PixelV1_S028_20151118. As with most other devices, the update to Marshmallow should bring in quite a lot of changes, improvements as well as bug and performance fixes. While no official changelog has been submitted, we are testing it ourselves and will let you know of the changes that have been made very soon.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the update also includes the latest Android security patch for the month of November. Since the update is quite large, we recommend that you do update over a WiFi connection to prevent high data consumption over cellular data. if you haven’t received the update to Marshmallow yet then do not despair as it may take a while before it becomes available on your particular device.
